Prashant Kishor Says He Won’t Contest Bihar Assembly Elections, Focuses on Strengthening His Party
Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor has confirmed that he will not contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, choosing instead to focus on strengthening his party, Jan Suraaj, across the state. Kishor made this announcement while addressing supporters during his outreach campaign, signaling that his primary goal is to bring about long-term political change in Bihar.
Speaking to the media, Kishor stated, “My priority is not to win an election personally but to prepare a strong political alternative for Bihar. The people of this state deserve better governance and new leadership.”
Over the past few years, Kishor has been conducting his Jan Suraaj Yatra, meeting thousands of citizens, community leaders, and youth groups to understand the issues facing Bihar — from unemployment and poor education infrastructure to healthcare and rural development.
He emphasized that his movement is focused on empowering citizens rather than chasing electoral victories. Kishor added that his team is working at the village and block levels to build a cadre-based organization capable of challenging the state’s traditional political players.
Observers believe Kishor’s decision not to contest could be a strategic move aimed at consolidating grassroots support and presenting his party as a credible alternative in future elections.
As Bihar gears up for its Assembly polls, Kishor’s decision has drawn mixed reactions. While some political analysts view it as a missed opportunity for direct leadership, others say it underscores his long-term vision for reform-oriented politics in the state.
With his focus on organizational development, Prashant Kishor seems determined to reshape Bihar’s political landscape — one step at a time.
